Kalo Dungar – The Black Hill of Kutch

Kalo Dungar, or the Black Hill, is the highest point in Kutch, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Great Rann of Kutch. Located about 90 km from Bhuj, this hilltop stands at around 462 meters above sea level and is one of the must-visit spots for nature lovers and travelers. From the summit, visitors can witness the endless stretch of the White Rann merging with the horizon. On clear days, the view extends as far as the Indo-Pak border. The hill is also home to the 400-year-old Dattatreya Temple, adding a spiritual charm to the visit. Kalo Dungar is famous for its magnetic hill phenomenon, where vehicles appear to roll uphill due to an optical illusion. The winding drive to the top, the desert silence, and the surreal vistas make this place unforgettable.
